Lawyer Ezra Timoty Cautions Razman to Be Careful in Challenging Nikita Mirzani
In an exclusive interview with Cumicumi, the Managing Partner of S&P Law Office, Timoty Ezra Simanjuntak, S.H., M.H., issued a stern reminder to Razman Nasution regarding his role and responsibilities as legal counsel for Vadel Badjideh. This follows Vadel’s absence from a scheduled examination by the South Jakarta Metro Police investigators on Friday, September 27, which is part of the ongoing case involving Nikita Mirzani.
Timoty emphasized the importance of Razman exercising caution in handling this case, particularly with regard to the ethical standards of the legal profession. He explained that when making statements, especially when commenting on fellow lawyers, it is crucial for a lawyer to uphold legal principles. Timoty stated, “Commenting on fellow lawyers is permissible, but it must be based on two important elements: first, upholding the principles of law, and second, it must have an educational legal aspect.”
Furthermore, Timoty reminded that lawyers are an integral part of law enforcement, on par with prosecutors, judges, and police officers. Therefore, if a lawyer is found to have violated professional ethics, a formal complaint can be submitted to the Advocate Honorary Council. “This profession has high standards, and if any lawyer breaches them, the complaint mechanism through the Honorary Council should be used as a disciplinary measure,” Timoty added.
